Cruising In Hawaii
At Sea around Hawaii
Discovering Hawaii on board of a cruiser will surely be an unforgettable and dreamlike experience. The "Big Island", Maui, Oahu and Kauai, each of these four Hawaiian Islands is waiting for you with its own beauty and charm. Thus, to really get to know the fascination of Hawaii, you should experience the atmosphere of all of them. Here are some more details about each of these charming islands.
Even though Kauai is the smallest of the four islands, this is no reason to underestimate it. You can find a beautiful scenery and a rich wildlife, which have earned it the surname of "Garden Island". Due to these resources, it is the perfect place for various nature-based activities like kayaking, biking, tubing, whale watching, off road sightseeing, picnicking, snorkelling, on eco tours, dinner cruises, or see a little bit of everything from an airplane tour. The scenery that you can see in many Hollywood films showing the natural wildlife of Hawaii is the beautiful flora of Kauai. Another striking creation of nature is Waimea Canyon, which you can pass through on a day-long tour.
Kauai is the island farthest from the "Big Island", so when you start there and make your way towards the "Big Island", your next stop will be Oahu, which is also next in size to Kauai. Here you will find the legendary Waikiki beach resort as well as Honolulu, the capital of Hawaii. For this reason, Oahu plays a dominant role among the four islands. It is well developed, so you will hardly miss any of the comfort you're used to from home. Plus, you can do some great things you cannot do at home, like go snorkelling or skydiving - the beautiful coast of the island makes this an outstanding experience. If you are interested in history you can visit Pearl Harbor, or if you're in for some cultural input you can go to the Polynesian Cultural Center and learn about the rich traditions of the island's natives.
Like on the other islands, on Maui you can find a great range of outdoor activities such as kayaking, biking and ATV tours. There are so many things to do that you sure will have a hard time deciding which ones you want to go for. Should you learn to parasail, surf off the coast or rather attend an evening luau? But no matter on what you decide, it will by all means be great fun and a unique memory. Besides this range of activities Maui offers some of the finest beaches and golf courses in the world, and the sight of the peak of the Haleakala volcano will leave another impressive image in your memory.
The "Big Island", also called Hawaii, will be your next destination. Its expanse is bigger than the other three islands taken together, so be prepared for a lot more things to see and do. Besides the activities you can find on the other islands, there are things that you can only do on Hawaii, such as hiking through the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
With all these many different activities, you have no chance to get bored. And however you may choose to spend your time, you can be sure of an absolutely beautiful surrounding.
